Chianti is the wine country between Florence and Siena, around Greve, Radda, Castellina and Gaiole. Our villa here is Montelodoli, near Gaiole. If you own a house in the area, we can rent and run it for you, or check on it while it is empty.

Running a villa in Chianti.
Guests who book in Chianti come from all over the world, and many have stayed in good villas before. They compare houses closely, expect quick answers and notice straight away when the pool or the garden has been let go.
A long season
Bookings run from spring to autumn. May to October is pool season, and in September and October the harvest brings guests who come for the wineries.
Houses in the woods
Many houses sit on white roads with oak woods around them. Wild boar dig up lawns, and a summer storm can trip the power or stop the pool pump. A check before each arrival finds this before the guests do.
Tastings and dinners
Guests ask for winery visits, a cook for one evening, a driver so nobody has to drive back from a tasting. We book these for them.

The area
What to do in Chianti.
These are the hills of Chianti Classico, the wine with the black rooster on the neck of the bottle. Most of the land is vineyard, olive grove and oak wood, with stone farmhouses along the ridges.
The wine roads
Greve, Panzano, Radda, Gaiole and Castellina all have wineries that take visitors, from family cellars to old estates. Most tastings are by appointment.
Villages and parish churches
Romanesque pievi along the back roads, and a market day each week in most of the villages.
Florence and Siena
Both make an easy day out. From Montelodoli, Siena is about 40 minutes and Florence a little over an hour.
Outdoors
Cycling between the vineyards, horse riding, and long walks on the white roads that link the villages.
At the table
Chianti Classico and Gran Selezione, ribollita, bistecca, pici with wild boar ragù, pecorino, and the new olive oil pressed in October and November. Farms and trattorias cook private dinners and give cooking classes.
Getting here
Florence airport is 45 minutes to an hour from the middle of Chianti, Pisa about an hour and a half. You need a car.

When is the best time to stay in Chianti?
May to October for warm weather and the pool. September and October are harvest time, and prices are often lower than in high summer.
Does Montelodoli have a pool?
Yes, an infinity pool shared by its two studios. The property is always rented to one group only, so the pool is yours for the stay.
How far is Chianti from Florence and Siena?
From Montelodoli, near Gaiole, Siena is about 40 minutes by car and Florence about 1 hour 15. Houses further north, around Greve, are closer to Florence.
Can I still use my house in Chianti if you rent it?
Yes. We agree your own dates at the start and block them in the calendar. The rest of the season we rent it.
