Poggio alla Fame is a private hilltop estate above Sansepolcro, in the quiet, green corner of Tuscany known as the Valtiberina, where the Tiber valley opens towards Umbria and the hills roll away for as far as the eye can see. From the pool terrace the view reaches the town of Sansepolcro below and, on a clear day, mountains up to 200 kilometres away.
The estate is made of a stone main villa with four en-suite double bedrooms and two private annexes, each with its own en-suite double bedroom. Two of the rooms add a large, comfortable double sofa bed, and one has two single beds on a mezzanine, so the whole group of eighteen sleeps in real beds, in real rooms, each with its own bathroom.
Around the houses, the land is yours: a large garden, a woodland, an open field, an olive grove, several gazebos and outdoor lounges, a brazier for the evenings, an air-conditioned wine cellar, and a 20 by 6 metre pool with a built-in central jacuzzi and two olive trees growing from the water. Three private gates and parking for fifteen cars or more make arrivals effortless, even for a wedding party.

The pool at Poggio alla Fame is the heart of the estate: a 20 by 6 metre stretch of water on the edge of the hill, with two mature olive trees rising from islands inside it, a hydromassage jacuzzi built into its centre and connected to the pool, and an edge that dissolves into the view. Sun loungers, shade, an outdoor bar and a dining table sit right beside it, so the group can spend a whole day here without going indoors.

Poggio alla Fame sits on a hill above Sansepolcro, the Renaissance town of Piero della Francesca, in the Valtiberina: the upper valley of the Tiber where Tuscany meets Umbria and the Marche. It is one of the greenest, least crowded corners of the region, with walled towns, hilltop sanctuaries, the Sansepolcro market and the Anghiari antiques fair within a short drive, and Arezzo, Cortona, Perugia and Florence for day trips.
A car is recommended for full freedom, and we will help you plan tastings, dinners and excursions around the group.
On a clear day the view from the pool terrace reaches the mountains of the Apennines and, beyond them, peaks up to 200 kilometres away. Sunset is worth planning dinner around.

Up to 18 guests. There are six en-suite double bedrooms (four in the main villa, two in the annexes), two of which have a large double sofa bed, and one has two single beds on a mezzanine. That makes 12 in double beds, 4 in sofa beds and 2 on the mezzanine.
Yes. The two annexes are private buildings on the estate, each with its own en-suite double bedroom. They are ideal for grandparents, a couple who wants more privacy, or the newlyweds. The whole estate is always booked to one group only.

The estate has three private gated entrances, parking for fifteen cars or more, several gazebos, giant dining tables, a pizza oven and barbecue area, and a 20 metre pool terrace facing the valley. Tell us the date and the number of guests and we will come back with a proposal, including chef, catering, planner and suppliers.
Both. The villa is air-conditioned throughout, internet is high-speed Starlink, and there is an Apple TV in every room. Even the wine cellar is air-conditioned.
The pool measures 20 by 6 metres. Two mature olive trees grow from two islands built inside the pool itself, so you swim around them, and at the centre there is a hydromassage jacuzzi connected to the pool, with the view over Sansepolcro and the valley beyond the edge.
We recommend one. The estate is on a hill above Sansepolcro, about ten minutes from the town, and the most rewarding places in the area (Anghiari, Arezzo, Cortona, La Verna, Perugia) are best reached by car. Parking on the estate is easy for fifteen cars and more, and we can arrange a private driver for day trips.
