The villa

A country house with a view of Volterra.

Villa Fecciano stands on a hillside near Lajatico, looking out over the fields to the old town of Volterra. The house is on two floors and keeps its rustic Tuscan look, with an open fireplace in the living room, but the kitchen is fully equipped and up to date. Families with children are welcome.

The villa has two bedrooms, a double and a twin, sleeping four. On request, the sofa bed in the living room takes two more guests, for a maximum of six. Each of the two bathrooms has a walk-in glass shower, and internal stairs connect the two floors.

Outside there are a 700 m² private garden, three terraces and a 12×6 m pool. The pool is open from mid-May to mid-October. Giovanni looks after the garden, where there is a lawn under the olive trees, and in the evening the sun goes down behind Volterra, twenty minutes away by car. Lajatico, Andrea Bocelli's birthplace, is ten minutes; the coast and San Gimignano are both under an hour, and Pisa is about 43 km.

What the villa has, inside and out.

The villa has two bedrooms and two bathrooms, a living room with a fireplace and a well-equipped kitchen. Outside are three terraces and a 700 m² garden, with the pool set in the garden and looking out over Volterra.

Indoors. Two floors, furnished in a rustic Tuscan style. The living room has an open fireplace, and this is also where the sofa bed is. The kitchen is fully equipped, so you can cook with produce from the farms and villages nearby, and there is a dedicated workspace with fast Wi-Fi for longer stays.

The bedrooms. The master has a large double bed. The second room has two single beds and suits children or two friends. That makes four guests; the living-room sofa bed takes two more on request. Both bathrooms are fully fitted, with walk-in glass showers.

Outdoors. The 700 m² private garden is planted with olive trees and has a lawn to lie on. The three terraces are only for the villa's guests, with room to sunbathe or eat outside. The 12×6 m pool is open from mid-May to mid-October and faces Volterra. The pool area is shared only with the two neighbouring houses, which are privately owned and not rented out.

The villa stands on a hillside near Lajatico, with fields all around and a clear view of Volterra. Volterra is twenty minutes by car; it still has its Etruscan walls and a Roman theatre, and the town is known for its alabaster workshops. Lajatico is ten minutes away. Andrea Bocelli was born there, and once a year he gives a concert at the Teatro del Silenzio, the village's open-air theatre.

You need a car to reach the villa and to get around the area. We can help you organise wine tastings and dinners, and plan day trips during your stay.
