Gaiole sits at about 350 metres on the eastern side of Chianti Classico, below the ridge of the Monti del Chianti, with Brolio, Castagnoli, Lecchi, San Sano and Monti in its countryside. Our villa here is Montelodoli, about 10 minutes from the village.

Houses in the woods
Many houses sit on white roads with oak woods around them. Wild boar dig up lawns, and a summer storm can trip the power or stop the pool pump. A check before each arrival finds this before the guests do.
Three returns a year
The return goes in through the comune's StayTour system, and the tax is paid with pagoPA by 16 May, 16 September and 16 January. We do both for the houses we manage.

What to do in Gaiole in Chianti.
Since 2021 Gaiole has been one of the eleven Chianti Classico areas that can be named on a Gran Selezione label. Most of the comune is wooded hill country, with castles and old abbeys on the ridges.
Castello di Brolio
The Ricasoli family has owned Brolio since 1141, and Bettino Ricasoli set down the Chianti formula here in the 19th century. The castle and its cellars take visitors.
Badia a Coltibuono
An abbey founded in 1051 and run by Vallombrosan monks until 1810, now a wine estate with a restaurant.
Florence and Siena
Both make an easy day out. From Montelodoli, Siena is about 40 minutes and Florence a little over an hour.
L'Eroica
On the first Sunday of October, thousands of cyclists ride old steel bikes on the white roads around Gaiole. The first edition was in 1997.
At the table
Chianti Classico and Gran Selezione, ribollita, bistecca, pici with wild boar ragù, pecorino, and the new olive oil pressed in October and November. Farms and trattorias cook private dinners and give cooking classes.
Getting here
Florence airport is 45 minutes to an hour from the middle of Chianti, Pisa about an hour and a half. You need a car.

Yes, an infinity pool shared by its two studios. The property is always rented to one group only, so the pool is yours for the stay.

From Montelodoli, near Gaiole, Siena is about 40 minutes by car and Florence about 1 hour 15. Houses further north, around Greve, are closer to Florence.
Can I still use my house in Chianti if you rent it?
Yes. We agree your own dates at the start and block them in the calendar. The rest of the season we rent it.
